The Golden-Fronted Woodpecker is common in South Texas and Mexico, but certainly uncommon to me!  This woodpecker is so colorful and stunning with it’s yellow-orange nape. They like to hang on the side of trees and it seems that their favorite side of the tree is the one YOU are not on!  I recently visited the Lower Rio Grande Valley in South Texas and was treated to  a multitude of extremely beautiful birds.
