Female Rose-breasted Grosbeak

The Female Rose-breasted Grosbeak is a typical woodland bird, but not in the North Carolina mountains. I had chased the Male Rose-breasted Grosbeak for several years when they passed through for only a few days in May on their spring migration. Both the Male and Female have a melodic sweet song and I found this Female because of her song. She touched down for a few minutes in the woods behind my house and let me photograph her.
